Alexa Huzar, Vice President 

Alexa Huzar is a Senior from Philadelphia studying biology with a concentration in cellular, molecular, and genetics. Alexa is also in the Biology BA/MS program! She is focusing on conservation biology research as she currently works studying the effect of climate change on coral reefs. In her free time she enjoys ceramics and enjoying the occasional nice weather Boston has.

Salman Rahman, Secretary

As secretary of BPO, Salman documents a variety of information during chapter meetings. He also is responsible for coordinating event spaces for BPO chapter meetings, social events, and other official BPO business. He is a Junior majoring in human physiology and minoring in public health. Also, he is a peer mentor and volunteers at local nonprofits. In his free time, Salman likes to explore new restaurants in Boston and workout at the Fitrec.

Emily Kim, Public Relations

Emily Kim is from Dallas, TX and is studying Human Physiology in Sargent College. She is also a member of Women's Tennis team. In between class and practice, Emily also works as an undergraduate research assistant in the Ho lab. Her professional goal is to become a physician and to conduct clinical research someday. Emily's favorite spots in Boston include: the Trader Joe's in Coolidge Corner, the Institute of Contemporary Art, and Nickerson field during the spring. Two years at BU have taught Emily that, unfortunately, the superior Starbucks on campus is in Questrom, you can tell a lot about a person based on where they sit in SCI109, and that anyone who loves science should absolutely rush BPO. 

Chelsea Ji, Academic Chair

Chelsea Ji is from Davis, California where there are probably more cows than residents; it goes without saying she is excited to be a part of a fraternity with actual people in it. She studies Human Physiology in Sargent College with a minor in Public Health and is involved with various human service positions. She volunteers at a geriatric hospital and mentors local high schoolers. In addition, Chelsea assists in clinical research at Boston Medical Center. For fun, she likes to eat Trader Joe’s dark chocolate-covered pretzel slims and play with her sister’s dog.

Bella Civitarese, Chapter Correspondent

Bella is a Biology major and an Italian studies minor. She is a Senior from Brookline, Ma. As chapter correspondent, Bella is responsible for communications with nationals and communications via BPO social media. In the future, she hopes to go to medical school and specialize in pediatrics. In her free time, Bella enjoys reading, going out with friends, and spending time at the stables with her horse Blue! In her future, Bella hopes to work in Pediatrics and ultimately become a Pediatric Surgeon!

 

Berk Tellioglu, Social Chair

Harsh Patel, New Member Educator

Harsh Patel is a human physiology student on the pre-medical track. In the future, he hopes to specialize in dermatology as well as enter the business world by developing his own enterprise. As the new member educator in BPO,, Harsh oversees the pledging process and helps induct pledges to member status at the end of initiation. 

Jeremy is from Irvine, California and is currently a senior studying Human Physiology in Sargent College. With his dream of becoming a physician, Jeremy has immersed himself in many activities to gain interaction with people of all backgrounds and ages. He is a resident assistant in South Campus, a mentor in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mass. Bay, and a mentor to incoming freshmen in Human Physiology. On the science-side of his life, Jeremy works at a neurobiology lab at BU Medical Campus, volunteered at MGH, and has shadowed physicians of numerous speciaties to strengthen his drive for medicine. Outside of school-related activities, Jeremy enjoys playing sports with his friends, cooking, and playing guitar.

Rayna Fujimoto is from Oahu, Hawaii and is a senior studying Human Physiology in Sargent College. Back home, she enjoys tanning at the beach and getting food with her friends. As historian for BPO, Rayna aims to capture priceless moments at events by taking photographs. At the end of the semester, she compiles all the pictures into a report with descriptions as a way to look back on the memories. In the future, she hopes to find a job she loves and to still be in touch with all her friends from BPO.

Mariette DeCena is from Waterbury, CT and is a senior on the pre-med track majoring in Biology and minoring in Spanish. As service chair, she is responsible for contacting local volunteer organizations and planning service events. Outside of class, she is a medical scribe at Dana Farber Cancer Institute and mentor for transfer students at BU. Mariette also enjoys playing the kalimba, drinking boba tea, and creating different makeup looks on herself or friends!

Berk is a senior from Rhode Island in Sargent College pursuing a B.S. in Human Physiology. He currently works as an operations assistant at BU’s COVID-19 collection sites. As social chair, Berk organizes social events for BPO members throughout the semester.

Elika Rezaeimanesh is an international student from Iran. She studies Human Physiology in Sargent College and is involved with several different activities on and off campus. She works as a research assistant and safety coordinator at the Boston University Vascular Biology lab and a clinical research intern at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She is also an Resident Assistant at BU! For fun, she likes to explore Boston, check off her bucket-list and watch sunsets by the water whenever she gets the chance.
